Creer, Robert Evans

Robert Evans Creer (1838 -1915) was born in Ramsey on the ISle of Man, and was the son of the harbour master. His unusual paintings depict many rural scenes around the Isle of Man, though most of them are based in the north, with several depictions of the Isle of Arran, most likely fromt the sea.

The Isle of Manx museum has this to say of Creer's work:

"Creer’s style of painting might be described as a naïve style, and it has a remarkable freshness and innocence which takes you right to the heart of the subject."
