Wylie, Kate

Kate Wylie was born in Skelmorlie in North Ayrshire in 1877, going on to study at Glasgow School of Art. She is largely known today for her work depicting flowers, however also depicted landscapes as well as some portraiture work. Her main mediums were oil and watercolour.


Wylie had a long association with Arran, basing herself in a cottage in Blackwaterfoot from were she painted. She died in 1941. In the following year a memorial exhibition was staged by the Glasgow Society of Lady Artists.
